There are a Number of steps involved in the Configuration of Conquest Map. This topic will take you through each one.
• After the Installation Setup has completed, start Conquest II and use “Tools | Administration | Accounts and Permissions” to open the “User Accounts” form.
• Set the Map User Type to “Full” for those User Accounts, that will be using Conquest Map.
• Conquest II now has a “Conquest Map” button, to open a Map Window in Conquest II, which adds a Map option to the Conquest II Menu Bar. Use this menu and select the Map Preferences option to open the Map Preferences form and set the Conquest Map Directory. This is the base directory for map layers. Layers can be further organized in sub-directories if desired. Also specify the field name that will link the Map layer object to the Conquest II object e.g. AssetID.
• For each type of asset that is going to be linked to a map object, some set up is required. Open the Asset Type form for those Asset Types that are to be mapped and select the Right-click menu, Map Setup option to open the map configuration form. Set the layer that Assets of this type will appear on and the object style that they will use. Refer to Asset Type Map Setup for details.
• When Conquest Map is first used there will be no layers defined, therefore the first thing to do is add new layers and then save them in a default view using the Layer Control icon. The default view becomes the view that is displayed when Conquest map first opens. Any number of views may be configured but only one of them will be the default. Refer to the Create Views section for details.
• Conquest Map functionality relies on having an Asset in Conquest II with a corresponding object on the map. The Conquest Asset ID, which is recorded in a field on the appropriate map layer, links these two items. The layer field is called AssetID and is an integer/number type. This field then needs to be populated with the correct asset Id’s. Someone with Microsoft Access and Mapinfo skills can set up queries to match the map layer table with the Conquest II table. Other options might be the Add/Edit Map Asset tools for Assets not in Conquest or the Not Mapped Assets option on an Asset List for Assets already in Conquest, see Asset View Controls for more details.
• To use Conquest Map to record Customer Requests onto the map refer to Setup Request Layer section for detail.
• To record Defects on a Map Layer refer to Mapping Defects for details.
